Record Black Hawaiian Sheep
Charles from Texas has hunted everything from Muskox’s to Grizzly’s. However one animal had his attention this last week at V Bharre. The first day of Charles hunt he harvested a beautiful 35″ European Mouflon. After a great meal and a good nights sleep Charles was ready to go back at it. Not sure what he really wanted Charles and guide Brad Draughon went hunting early am. After hunting for several hours a small group of sheep came out of the brush to feed. Brad looked at the sheep and quickly identified the Black Hawaiian as a giant. “How big?” Charles asked. Brad told him he should push 40″. For those of us who know sheep, a 40″ Black Hawaiian is a stud. Charles laid his Steyr 30-06 on the window of the Ranch King blind. Taking a deep breathe Charles fired connecting with the record class trophy. As Charles and Brad approached the sheep they were both amazed how heavy his bases were and the length measured right at 40″. Nice shot Charles and congrats on your gold medal Mouflon and your super gold medal Black Hawaiian. Way to go!! I know in your testimonial you said you’ll be back again and again…..We can’t wait!

Gold Medal Fallow Deer
Cajun boys Chad and Kenneth from Louisiana booked an Aoudad hunt at V Bharre Ranch. First night sitting in a bow stands Chad and guide Tristian Rusk see something approaching the feeder. Chad looked and said,”Damn Tristian, is that a moose?” Laughing Tristian reply, “no but that’s one nasty Fallow Deer.” Chad, who was in search of a trophy Aoudad had to raise his bow a smoke a arrow into this beautiful gold medal Fallow. Chad made a perfect shot. After gathering back at the processing room you can see that Kenneth’s head started to spin. Kenneth had already harvested a beautiful 37″ Sable but could not get over the size of the Fallow. Guide Brad Draughon asked Kenneth,”we are still hunting for Aoudad, right?” Kenneth replies,”you bet, but if one of these big fallow happen to present a shot I might be persuaded the trade some horn for antlers.” The next morning the Aoudad outwitted there hunters. So Brad changed game plans and went moose hunting. Later in the morning Kenneth and Brad find a beautiful spotted fallow bedded. Kenneth fires his 7mm mag connecting with this gold medal Fallow. Congrats guys on your moose….oh sorry your fallow deer hunt! “Gold Medal Fallow Deer!”

V-Bharre Safari
No passport was needed for Bruce James who harvested 7 trophies with 4 record breakers. Bruce drove in from New Mexico last Thursday. As Bruce and guide Brad Draughon explored the pasture it didn’t take long for Bruce to feel like he was in Africa. Bruce is a accomplished hunter and has made several trips to Africa. “I’m just getting to old to go back”, Bruce said. Well over the next couple of days you would have thought Bruce was on a safari because he put the smack down on 7 beautiful animals. Bruce harvested a record Mouflon, Red Sheep, 2 Aoudad, a record Jacob Sheep, a record Gemsbok and a record Wildebeest. Personal I think he might have ran out of bullets. Bruce, congrats buddy. I’m glad V Bharre could make you feel like you where back in Africa.
Addax Hunting at V-Bharre
Hunting is a great way to spend quality time with friends. Just ask Chris and Matt who recently harvested two Addax only 30 seconds apart. Last Friday the temperature was 95 degrees. You would think this would force most sane people in air conditioned house. However, it’s a perfect time to hunt African Exotics. “These Addax gave us quite a hunt”, Chris said. We hunted them for over 2 hours before we found them and then played cat and mouse for another hour. Who said Exotic hunting was easy! After 3 hours and losing 5 pounds we found ourselves undetected from a high vantage point. Chris shoots first sending a 300 WSM to the honey hole. Matt quickly steadies himself and fires a 7 mm mag connecting with the second Addax. Wow, two Addax down in 30 seconds. Nice job guys!
Later that night we feasted on Shrimp, King Crab, Snow Crab, Corn, Sausage and Potatoes and iced cold beer. Matt looked at Chris and said,”MAN….IT DOESN”T GET BETTER THAN THIS!”
Hunter Accomplishes 10 year Quest
Winn has searched for 10 years for a world class Blackbuck. Well patience, perseverance, a birthday gift and V Bharre Ranch brought his quest to a reality. Congrats to Winn and his guide Brad Draughon for a truly exceptional trophy. This Blackbuck straight tapes over 25″ and has 6″ bases.
Awesome Winn!
New Oryx SCI crossbow World Record
Shelby from West Virginia booked a hunt at V Bharre Ranch in search of a 40″ male Oryx and a gold medal Addax. Little did he know he would later smash the SCI world record Oryx with a crossbow. I personally had the pleasure of guiding this accomplished outdoorsman. I soon realized Shelby does not care about world records or awards for his accomplishments. He has several B & C whitetails he has never entered. What he does care for is a quality, challenging hunt. Rather it’s hunting mountain goats, grizzly’s or stalking Oryx with a crossbow, Shelby loves the woods. On day 2 of our hunt Shelby and I quietly stalked a group of Oryx. After several minutes, maybe an hour we selected the one we felt was best for the harvest. Over the next several minutes Shelby carefully judged the wind and yardage on this beast of a Oryx. Pushing the safety forward, taking a deep breathe the crossbow fired. The arrow found both lungs. “Great shot, absolutely perfect”, I said. Shelby made a 46 yard shot in a cross wind. Not bad….
The SCI world record crossbow is 93 6/8. Shelby’s Oryx Bull unofficially measures 97 2/8. Smashing the previous record. Super congrats Shelby. On another note Shelby also used a crossbow to harvest 2 gold medal Addax, a gold medal Blackbuck and a beautiful Kafue Lechwe with a handgun.
Way to go!
Outfitter from Montana arrows Sable
Paul an Outfitter from Billings, Montana bares the blazing Texas heat to seek a Sable. On June 10th the temperature gauge was reading 98 degrees in the shade. The Texas heat did not seem to affect Paul’s desire to hunt Sable. “It’s hot, blazing hot”, Paul says to the camera.
As all bowhunters know, it take patience to get these keen animals within 50 yards. Well after 2 hours of cooking Paul arrowed his Sable. Paul used his Bowtech to place a perfect 33 yards shot. Paul’s Sable scored #3 TGR. Truly a magnificent trophy!
Congrats Paul on your Sable and congrats on your #13 TGR Mouflon!
